| Brother Baruti of Shreveport, La. |
| I was born Gordon Ardison and later because of changes in beliefs and philosophies, I changed my name and attitude to Baruti Donkor Ajanaku.
I was raised in the steel and concrete jungles of Shreveport, La. and attended the public schools of Caddo Parish.
I am the son of Susie Ardison, mother of eight, and I have four children of my own.
I became known in my hometown as a fighter for causes, a firebrand who could not resist the urge to speak out against injustices. My goal, through God is to express in writing the sufferings and hopes of a people that the educational system has maneuvered to a lower class, and to remind them of the need to rise and unite. |
Some of my many influences include: Dr. Louis Pendleton, a top community leader Black Panther Leader, Huey P. Newton The teaching of Malcolm X The inspiration of Min. Louis Farrakhan Harriet Tubman Nat Turner Dr. Vernon Johns Rev. W.L. McAfee The Willie Lynch Letter
(this is a condensed version of the full autobiography available in his book, "As The Ghetto Turns")
